Where are we now???   138 First Street, Pleasant Hill, MO 64080

Exciting things are coming to Historic Downtown Pleasant Hill. Pleasant Hill Railroad Days is the last weekend in April.   Cruise nights will run the last Friday evening on the month, May through October.  The Katy Trail system coming closer to passing through town and will eventually be completed to connect with other legs across the state.  July is the Cass County Fair and again, brings people downtown to enjoy our atmosphere.  We hope to see you soon.

With the closing of our City Market store at the end of 2011, a decision was made to go on hiatus for a while.  Though we continued to provide our candy and cookie bouquets to our loyal customers, we used the internet as our primary entity.  It was decided to return to Pleasant Hill, MO.  It is a historical area that will be our home for the future.  The quality of our goods remain the highest quallity along with friendly service.

We were located at 307 Main, in the Historic Kansas City Market area. This location was closed in December 2011.\

.It was with sadness that we closed the Bannister Mall location.
The announcement that Bannister Mall was closing the end of May 2007,  caused a ripple effect among the merchants.  For all of our loyal customers, It was because of that we moved our  location to the Historic City Market in downtown Kansas City.   The City Market is still a marvelous place to visit. We had a special connection with the festivities for their 150th Anniversary, we begin another era in our existance.

A Sweet Expression moved from Pleasant Hill, MO to Bannister Mall in South Kansas City in the fall of 2006.
In the summer July of 2003, A Sweet Expression expanded to a second location in downtown Pleasant.  The Lee's Summit store closed the end of December 2003

A Sweet Expression   Pleasant Hill, MO

At one time a sister store was opened up the street called Words of Wisdom.  This store was a teacher's consignment shop.  Thought it received rave reviews, and the concept was considered innovative, it closed at the end of the holiday season.

A Sweet Expression was the child of our first company...Silk Expressions.
Through divine intervention, an opportunity became available at 28 SE Third Street in downtown Lee's Summit.

A Sweet Expression -
      October 6, 2000 -  December 31, 2003

On October 6th, 2000, A Sweet Expression was born. Having all the creative characteristics of the parent, it  followed a different path.  Cookie, candy and balloon bouquets continued to be available, along with, balloon decorating and gift baskets.   A Sweet Expression was the first to offer ice cream and fudge in a nostalgic setting. Customers could come in and enjoy a scrumptious hot fudge sundae or an old fashioned Rock Candy.   It began the ultimate SWEET EXPERIENCE.  As our family grew, we continued to strive to bring our customers a quality product.  This continues to be our promise to you.

Candy, cookie, balloon bouquets and gift baskets are our specialty.

Our First Store Front --- Silk Expressions
June 6th, 2000, a Silk Expressions opened it's door for the first time.  A little one room space in the middle of a tiny office building, it was so exciting.   We enjoyed the freedom to create new and wonderful gifts.  Unfortunately, no one knew we were there.  Even the tree out front covered our sign.  We grossed $500 that summer.

Before opening Silk Expressions, retail was first attempted by opening
a booth for the holidays in December 1999 at the Kansas City Flea Market, then at 40 HY and Noland Road, in Independence, MO.  After learning that people
really liked the arrangements, because they did them too, a decision was
made to find a special niche.   The diversity of A Sweet Expression
stretches back to that place in time.
